Devlog #5: Combat improvements (part 1)
Over the past few weeks, I have made significant changes to increase the tactical complexity of encounters in the game.
1) Weapons now roll for damage (not too much variation that it becomes RNG dependent, but enough to keep things interesting).
2) Attacks can miss and characters can dodge.
3) Each weapon is associated with skills which perform various battlefield functions (guarding, healing, inflicting status effects, increasing chance to flee, etc).
4) Characters can use items in battle, such as bandages to heal teammates or bombs to throw at enemies.
There have also been minor updates to the "camp" side of the game, balancing around tasks, new events added, etc.
