Devlog #3: City Building Update
Sorry for the long wait since the last update, but the game is not dead! Just had a very busy summer, but have been getting back to PostNomad development. This update is a big and important one, as the framework for the city building aspect of the game is now built in. You can build and upgrade residential buildings to increase your tribe capacity, and you can build crafting buildings to turn raw materials into weapons, armors, and other items. Here is the UI for residential buildings:
And here it is for the crafting buildings:
Each building has a set of recipes that it can make, which require ingredients and a certain DEFT skill. You can select your crafter by hitting the select crafter button on the right side:
As long as you have a good enough crafter and the required materials, you can go ahead and craft the item:
Building is initiated by hitting the hammer icon next to the command button, which will bring up available building spots on the current map.
Buildings and upgrades require a certain set of materials, and you will be able to build the building if you have these materials.
Setting up the crafting and residential buildings in this way means that I can lock later tribe size upgrades and weapon crafting recipes behind rarer materials that will require the player to take risks and migrate further and further east.
